How to Make Time… for the Important Things in Your Life

By on June 23, 2014

Today – I’d like to talk to you about time management, particularly how to make the time for the things you really want.

I founded The Father-Daughter Project to help me and other dads have better relationship with their daughters.

One day my wife said… You should spend some time with Lauren, our middle daughter, who was 22 at the time. Why not take her out to dinner? I agreed, saying, “That would be great.”

A few days passed… then a week, but nothing had happened. So my wife asked, “What happened? I thought you were going to take Lauren out for dinner.”

I explained that I had been waiting for the right time, when both our schedules would be free.

Then she exclaimed, “JUST CALL HER!”

This was my “duh” moment. I called her and asked, “Lauren, do you want to go out for dinner tonight?” She said, “I can’t tonight, but how about tomorrow.” I said Yes and we were set.

This was easy, but I made it unnecessarily complicated.

I’ve told this story to so many other guys, and it’s amazing how many tell me they’ve had the same type of experience, with a daughter, a girlfriend or a spouse.

The point here…

If there’s someone you want to talk to or spend time with… Just do it!

If you want to MAKE TIME for things you really want, don’t think…
Set a time right then and there. You won’t believe how much your life changes

And you’ll find yourself spending more time on what’s important in your life.
