Positioning is the image your prospective customer gets of your product or service.
Every customer will gain an impression about your product or service. It’s usually better for YOU to define in advance what image you want them to have, then to do whatever is necessary to ensure that image is conveyed.
Positioning can refer to price, quality, geographic location and country of origin, typical purchaser and anything else which establishes an image in a client’s mind.
The ideal positioning establishes in the buyer’s mind an image for your product or service which is appealing. Some marketers will also try to position their competitors and their products or ideas as unappealing or repulsive.
