| How do you get web visitors to... |
The number one goal of anyone who is using the Internet to make money is to convert web visitors into buyers of your products, services or ideas and cause.
That requires you to first attract people to your website or web platform, then to have that website or web platform get them to take action – so they…
- Buy your product,
- Call for an appointment,
- Give you there phone number
- Send you a text message or a text question,
- Schedule an appointment in an online calendar (and pay for the service when appropriate),
- Sign-Up for a live seminar, or an Internet-based teleseminar (telephone-based presentation) or webinar (Internet-based presentation with Powerpoint or Keynote slides or other visuals),
- Visit your location, or
- Give You their email address so you can send them emails to build trust and ultimately, get them to buy from you.
THE FIRST RULE of Internet conversion is to ask for what you want.
Is it clear and obvious to everyone who visits your website or web platform, what you want them to do? The more obvious you make it, the more people will do what you want.
THE SECOND RULE of Internet conversion is to make it easy to take the action you want.
If you want them to call…
- Is your phone number easy to find?
- Is it on every page?
If you want their email address…
- Is your Opt-In (email capture box) prominent and visually obvious?
- Are you giving them a strong and motivating reason to give you their email address?
The easier you make it, the more people will do what you want.
THE THIRD RULE of Internet conversion is, if you bring people to your website with one message, make sure your landing page (the page they land on) continues THAT message.
Here’s an example of someone with a wonderful ad promoting their service.

The problem…
Once someone clicks on their ad, the link brings them to their website’s home page.

Although it’s beautiful, what action is the visitor supposed to do next?
They will get a much higher percent of visitors to convert to buyers if they:
- (a) Have their landing page repeat or continue the message they began in their ad (a landing page is any page your link takes them to), then
- (b) Limit the visitor’s choices. Their home page has too many choices. Which link should the visitor click? What action should he or she take?If they want the visitor to call, tell them so. If they want the visitor to give them their email address, tell them so. The more choices you give the visitor, the less likely they will take ANY action.
Although the design of the page below isn’t as beautiful as what the advertisers above could create, many more people will call!
A lot more people!
This isn’t brain surgery. It’s simple, and it works!

Ask for what you want… and ye shall receive.
But…
What if you want your visitor to do two things?
If you want them to (1) call or buy, but you also want to (2) capture their email address, decide which is most important, and start with that.
If capturing their email is most important, start by offering something incredible in exchange for their email address. Once you have their email, now bring them to a web page that invites them to buy or call. The beauty of capturing their email address first is, even if they don’t buy right away, you could easily continue interacting with them… enticing and encouraging them to eventually buy.
And let’s face it. More people will give you their email address than will buy from you, the first time they meet you.
Of course, if getting them to call is more important (as it is with the ad above), make that request more prominent, having an Opt-In (email capture box) easy-to-find but not as prominent.
So… When They Visit Your Website, What Do You Want Them to Do Next
[The bullets below are links — Click a link]
The most important element of your website is its call-to-action. After your visitor gets the information they need, what action do you want them to take?
Here are a few tips to help convert the most web visitors to the action you want.
